About Jason Monks
Jason Monks has been married to his high school sweetheart Shelley for almost 30 years. Jason and Shelley are blessed to have eight children, four of which are adopted, and three grandchildren. The Monks’ oldest, Kegan is married with two children and just completed law school. Kelby is also married with one child and is finishing his third year of law school. Morgan is a senior at Utah State University. Their son Kaden just got married and is a freshman at Boise State. The younger kids are Makenna (13), Kooper (12), Malia (10) and Maggie (10). One of the reasons Jason ran for office is because he wants his children and grandchildren to be able to enjoy Idaho’s greatness for years to come.
Jason paid his way through high school and supported his family while attending college, working for a construction company doing exterior stucco. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences with a dual emphasis; Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene (chemical safety) from Brigham Young University.
Jason currently own two small businesses and employ around 20 people. Prior to starting these businesses, Monks worked for ZiLOG as their Environmental Health and Safety Manager until they sent their manufacturing business out of the country. Jason has also worked for a hazardous waste remediation company and another semiconductor fabricator who also ended up moving their operations. Jason Monks’ experiences working for small and large companies along with owning and operating his own businesses have served him well and prepared him to serve in the Idaho Legislature.
When Jason Monks isn’t serving in the legislature or working at one of his two businesses, he can often be found coaching one of his kids’ ball teams or serving in his church.
